Read MoreNudi Head by Wendy Melill Taylor
Hand held self portrait at Catalina Island wearing a Nudibranch cap. Many shots were taken by viewing my reflection in the dome port so that the sun was behind my head creating sun streaks, and positioning the dual strobes so they light my eyes within the mask without having the mask create shadows over the eyes. I had to hold my breath so that the bubbles disappeared. After 22 years taking underwater photos, this is the first time I have turned the camera on myself. It was a good experience and took lots of adjustments of camera but mostly with my position in front of the dome port and with strobes. Once I metered the background light the challenge was with bubbles, position in frame, strobe light position, strobe intensity and sun to subject. It looks like a simple image but it is amazing what you have to deal with when underwater. It was fun!
